چکیده
Respiratory tract infections (RTIs) are a major public health concern. This study aims to investigate the profiles and epidemiological characteristics of acute RTIs respiratory pathogens in Palestinian hospitalized patients. Clinical samples from patients with symptoms admitted between January 2011 December 2016 were referred Central Public Health Laboratory (PHCL) identify causative pathogen. Patients’ demographic information results molecular identification retrieved electronic database at PHCL. A total 15413 during period. The causal agent was identified only 28.7% Overall, influenza viruses most common cause among West Bank. Children elderlies affected RTIs. elderly population (?60 years old) had highest rates. After virus, syncytial virus (RSV), Bordetella pertussis (B. pertussis) causes showed hospitalization rates for RSV, B. pertussis, adenovirus, enterovirus, Streptococcus pneumoniae. On other hand, influenza. Outbreaks occurred mainly winter (between March). resurgence spite vaccination is alarming requires further investigation.

BACKGROUND Molecular techniques can often reveal a broader range of pathogens in respiratory infections. We aim to investigate the prevalence and age pattern of viral co-infection in children hospitalized with lower tract acute respiratory infection (LT-ARI), using molecular techniques. METHODS A nested polymerase chain reaction approach was used to detect Influenza (A, B), metapneumovirus, r...

BACKGROUND Acute viral respiratory infections are an important cause of morbidity and mortality in humans worldwide. The etiological backgrounds of these infections remain unconfirmed in most clinical cases. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of human coronavirus infections in a series of children hospitalized with symptoms of acute respiratory tract disease in a one-year peri...

We conducted this study to determine the contribution of respiratory viruses in 202 hospitalized children (1 mo-5 yr) with clinical evidence of acute lower respiratory tract illness (ALRI). Nasopharyngeal specimens were assayed for viruses detection by indirect immunoflourescent method. Viral agents were identified from 109 (54%) cases (9 cases had dual infection). The most commonly detected vi...
